who?

I play double bass and write music, and it mostly would be called jazz or BAM (Black American Music). I was based in Brooklyn until this pandemic (2020), but now I’m a bit harder to pin down. Some of the musicians I’ve been involved with include Cecile McLorin Salvant, Aaron Diehl, Matt Wilson, Grant Stewart, and Johnny O’Neal. If you need a bio for promotional or informational reasons, written in 3rd person, look no further:

I am on social media sometimes: facebook | instagram | twitter

I was also in an underrated rock band: Quickly Quietly

Cecile McLorin Salvant, the eminent singer and my great friend... Dreams and Daggers - Most of the album is live at the Village Vanguard and the rest I composed and arranged for the excellent Catalyst Quartet.

Aaron Diehl- The Vagabond - Diehl is an exquisite pianist, and we had such a powerful experience playing with the legendary drummer Gregory Hutchinson. We go a bit left in this one broh...

Grant Stewart has been my hero for years! Here we are playing trio with his stellar drummer-brother, Phil.

I interviewed myself in advance of this EP release. Whether you love me or really really love me, get ready to explore those feelings doubly so!

Dan Tepfer had me as a guest on his live stream over the summer. We used technology to be able to play remotely in real time! I love Dan's playing and we got into some good stuff here, playing Monk, Ellington, our original compositions for each other and more.

Philip Glass's Piano Etude No. 16 as arranged and played by Aaron Diehl, Gregory Hutchison and myself.

Here's a video from a few years ago in Spain with Cecile, Aaron and Lawrence Leathers.
